The school provides either an eight-year or four-year course. Students end their secondary education after passing their graduation exam, which is called "maturita". It consists of a written part (an essay in the Czech language - they can choose from 5 topics) and of an oral part from 4 subjects. Czech language and one foreign language are obligatory, two other subjects are optional. Then they usually sit for an entry exam at some university or college. Subjects taught at our school are as follows: Czech language and literature, foreign languages (English, French or German), Math, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Geography, History, Computers, Civics, Music, Fine Arts, Physical Education. In the third form (or sexta form), students can choose electives (foreign language conversation, all possible types of seminars - psychology, philosophy, computers, geography, biology, chemistry. There are also many after school activities like Theatre Lover's Club, a Volleyball Team, a Basketball Team, visiting concerts and field trips. We also provide the possibility to our students to borrow books in the school library. There is also the English library where not only teachers can borrow books, tapes and videos concerning methodology and various activities in class but also students are offered a wide range of books written by British or American writers in originals or in adapted versions. We could afford to equip this library thanks to financial grants from the Rotary Club from Holland. We are proud of our two cottages in a beautiful ski resort called Rokytnice in the Krkonose mountains (about 150 km from Nymburk). The owner of the building is the Parents Society. Our students have thus the possibility to take part in regular winter ski courses and in autumn courses which are focused on fine art and music. It is also possible to let out these cottages to other schools. Our school has organized many trips, even some exchanges abroad. A group of our students visited the USA and Canada, we offer the possibility to take part in a five-day trip to London or Paris. Very popular are the exchanges projects with Germany and Holland. We also appreciate the grant which is given once a year to one student - the winner of a school-wide competition about America who is invited to spend a month in Arizona. The school itself has a deep tradition and nice atmosphere.
