EU Projects

School participation in EU programmes

Foreign language teaching and active usage of language in practice is one of our major priorities. That is why we constantly try to find opportunities to involve our students in situations where they can prove their knowledge and abilities. Wide from all different kinds of trips and student exchange stays abroad, we keep in close contact with the Socrates National Agency which coordinates EU educational programmes for member and associated countries.

Within the Socrates programmes there are thematic oriented sub-programmes which provide the European Schools with opportunities to participate in a wide range of interesting projects. In autumn 1997 our teachers took part in preparatory sessions in coordinating countries - Mrs. Kostalova in Belgium, Mrs. Weissova in Germany and Mr. Riha in Sweden. The basic idea of their project and its subject matter was agreed upon so that all the participants could address the project as soon as they got back to their schools.

All our projects were very well worked out so that when the projects from all over the country were assessed we were also successful in gaining the grants to financially support their conclusion. Mrs. Weissova's and Mrs. Sedlata's were among those funded projects, Mr. Riha's project was recommended for completion but it didn't get a grant because it is rare for two parallel projects to be funded.

The Socrates National Agency coordinates not only educational programmes for students but also for teachers. During the recent years the grants for the study stays from one to three weeks were received by Mrs. Miskovska, Mrs. Kvackova, Mr. Riha and Mrs. Souckova, in 2000 they were Mr. Sykora, Mr. Kuhn and Mrs. Suchankova. Their experience will greatly enhance their further work.
